Where can I obtain Texas PI CE's? Who can train me?

You need to find an approved Continuing Education School with approved instructors. You can use the DPS TOPS website to search for approved schools. Quinn Education is approved by Texas Department of Public Safety and holds a

Continuing Education License Y11653501. We are currently offering full course CE's for Texas PI's who need 12 or 18 hours of education, including packages for process servers who also need JBCC CE. We are offering these courses LIVE and ONLINE.

How many Continuing Education credits do I need?

Every two years, by the end of your registration, you must have completed all continuing education requirements published by the Private Security Board of the Texas DPS. You must have a certificate of completion in your employment file, ready for review if an independent DPS audit is conducted.

If you have over 15 years of licensed Private Investigation in Texas, you need a minimum of 12 hours of CE for your renewal. This includes 2 hours of Legal/Code, 2 hours of Ethics and 8 hours of content-based continuing education related to investigations.

If you have less than 15 years of licensed Private Investigation in Texas, you need a minimum of 18 hours of CE for your renewal. This includes 2 hours of Legal/Code, 2 hours of Ethics and 14 hours of content-based continuing education related to investigations.

Can I take classes live or online?

Quinn Education offers all Private Investigation classes online, with courses set at 2 hours each and in bundle packages for your convenience. The courses are preloaded once registration/payment is made, the courses online can be done at your convenience, you can start and stop between modules and you can conduct it on any device. Live classes are held in the Houston and Dallas/Ft. Worth markets quarterly and provide an opportunity for fellowship as well as cutting-edge training, with the ability to take just what you need, adding the convenience of updating your process server training as well.

How much does it cost?

Each two hour PI CE course is $50. 12 hours of CE would be $300 and 18 hours would be $450. Please note that the QuinnEd Process Server course is 8 hours, is approved for PI CE and is currently $125 (which creates a SAVINGS of $75!). See below for additional BUNDLE options.

How do I pay for classes? Can I get a refund?

QuinnEd accepts ZELLE, CASHAPP and debit/credit card payments through the links for each individual course. If you want a bundle, you can select the one that suits your renewal needs and pay once for all hours.

THERE ARE NO REFUNDS ONCE THE CLASSES ARE PURCHASED. WE DO WORK WITH OUR CUSTOMERS TO RESOLVE ANY ISSUES WITH RESCHEDULING OR ALTERNATIVES TO CLASSES IF NECESSARY.

When do I need to renew?

The JBCC is increasingly efficient with the online system, with many of our students being approved or renewed within 1-2 weeks. Background checks are still only good for 90 days, so you cannot start your online application prior to 90 days before your expiration date.

How long are CE's good for?

The JBCC indicates on their website that courses approved for initial and renewal education are good during your entire certification time. So you can take your courses at a date and time most convenient for you at any time during your certification.

Do you have classes online?

We do offer all classes online as well as live. We HIGHLY recommend NEW process servers attend a LIVE class. Students can register and get process service course material online. Contact us directly if you have any questions about online courses or what you need to complete your application process.

How much does it cost?

New students will pay $125 for the 8 hour class, $200 for the online application and certification and $40 for a background check. Renewal students will pay $125 for the 8 hour class, $200 for a timely renewal but MAY NOT need to do a fingerprint background check. The JBCC will advise via email if renewal students need to complete fingerprints.

How do I pay for classes?
